Château de Larunque is a 540 m² 19th-century manor house located in Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse, between the Landes and Basque Country regions, near Bayonne and Hossegor. Surrounded by a 3.5-hectare wooded park , it can accommodate up to 15 people in a peaceful setting, ideal for gatherings with family, friends, trainees, or colleagues. The château combines the charm of a historic residence with the comfort of modern amenities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, a spa, a sauna, and a private tennis court.
Where is the Château de Larunque located?
The Château de Larunque is located in Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse, in the southern Landes region, on the border with the Basque Country. It is 30 minutes from Bayonne, Hossegor, and the Atlantic beaches , and 40 minutes from Biarritz. This location makes it easy to explore the Landes and the Basque Country while enjoying the tranquility of a rural setting.
How many people can the Château de Larunque accommodate?
The castle can accommodate up to 15 people (adults, children, and babies included). This capacity makes it an ideal place for family gatherings, holidays with friends, or retreats and small seminars. The bedrooms, living areas, and amenities have been designed to allow everyone to fully enjoy their stay, while maintaining comfort and a welcoming atmosphere.
Is the castle entirely privatized during the stay?
Yes. When you book the Château de Larunque, you have exclusive use of the entire property: the living areas, the park, the indoor pool, the spa, the sauna and the tennis court are entirely reserved for your group for the duration of your stay.
The owners live in a separate house located near the castle. Their presence is discreet and in no way infringes on your privacy. It simply allows us to respond quickly to a request, to advise you if you wish, or to intervene if necessary, so that your stay takes place in the best possible conditions.
When was the Château de Larunque built?
The Château de Larunque was built in the 19th century as a traditional Landes manor house. Following a fire in 1977, it was restored in a style inspired by Florentine villas, giving it an elegant and timeless architecture. Over the years, the residence has been carefully maintained and modernized to offer the comforts expected today, while preserving its character and identity.
Why is the Château de Larunque suitable for holidays with family or friends?
The Château de Larunque was designed to accommodate up to 15 people in privileged conditions of comfort and conviviality. Its spacious living areas allow adults and children to share meals, evenings, and activities while also giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy quieter moments. The heated indoor pool , spa , sauna , tennis court , and 3.5-hectare park offer a variety of activities for all ages, whatever the season.
Is the Château de Larunque suitable for seminars, training courses and retreats?
Yes. The Château de Larunque regularly hosts small seminars, workshops, and retreats in an environment conducive to work, reflection, and rejuvenation. The large reception areas allow for meetings or workshops, while the indoor pool, spa, sauna, and grounds offer opportunities for relaxation between sessions.
The castle's capacity is limited to 15 people. However, when it is desirable to have more rooms without increasing the number of participants, it is possible, subject to availability, to book in addition two independent houses located less than two minutes' walk from the castle, each offering two additional rooms.

Does the Château de Larunque accept stag and hen parties?
Yes. The Château de Larunque can accommodate stag parties (EVG) and hen parties (EVJF), provided that they are organised with respect for the venue, its capacity and the tranquility of the neighbourhood.
Festive occasions are naturally welcome. However, in order to preserve the peaceful character of the estate, it is requested that no loud music or conversations be held on the terraces and in the park after 10 p.m. However, it is possible to continue the evening inside the castle, with music, provided that the doors and windows remain closed in order to limit noise pollution.

How many rooms are there?
The Château de Larunque has 8 bedrooms , spread over several levels of the building. This capacity allows it to comfortably accommodate up to 15 people, while offering everyone a space for rest and privacy.

How are the sleeping arrangements arranged?
The sleeping arrangements are spread across the eight bedrooms of the Château de Larunque to accommodate both families and groups of friends.
At the Castle:

- Cirque Room : 1 king-size bed
- Literature Room : 1 king-size bed
- Theater Room : 1 single bed in the box and 2 single beds on the stalls

In addition, and only upon request , it is possible to reserve two houses located less than two minutes' walk from the castle in order to have a larger number of bedrooms, while respecting the maximum capacity of 15 people:

How many bathrooms are there?
The Château de Larunque has five bathrooms or shower rooms are distributed throughout the house to facilitate the daily lives of groups. Several toilets complete these facilities, allowing several people to prepare themselves at the same time.
The breakdown is as follows:
- 1st floor: a bathroom with bathtub and toilet, mainly intended for the Photography and Cinema rooms.
- Circus Room: private bathroom with toilet.
- Literature Room: private bathroom with toilet.
- Theatre: private bathroom with toilet.
- 2nd floor: a bathroom with toilet, mainly intended for the Poetry, Music and Dance rooms.
If you also choose to book the annex houses, each has its own bathroom and toilet, offering additional comfort to groups wishing to benefit from a larger number of bedrooms.
Are the beds made upon arrival?
Yes.The beds are made up before your arrival so that you can fully enjoy your stay from the very first moment.
Upon your departure, we simply ask that you do not remake the beds that have been used and leave the sheets in place. This small gesture allows us to quickly identify which beds were used, replace the necessary linens, and prepare the château in the best possible condition for the next guests.
Are towels provided?
Yes. A large bath towel is provided for each occupant.
Are the rooms air-conditioned?
The summer comfort of the Château de Larunque relies primarily on the natural qualities of this 19th-century residence and on a few simple improvements.
The castle's thick walls help to keep it cool. The rooms on the first floor are equipped with thick, blackout curtains (except for the Theatre room), while the skylights in the second-floor rooms are fitted with blackout blinds. Each second-floor room also has a state-of-the-art Dyson fan .
To maintain a comfortable temperature during the hottest periods, we recommend closing windows, blinds and curtains during the day, then ventilating thoroughly in the morning and evening when the air is cooler.
The castle is not equipped with air conditioning . This approach prioritizes the natural comfort of the residence while limiting energy consumption.
Are the rooms equipped with quality bedding?
Yes. Particular attention is paid to the quality of the bedding. All the large beds are king size (1.80 m wide), offering a sleeping space that is particularly appreciated by couples.
The mattresses and bed bases have been selected to offer an excellent balance between comfort and support. The beds are equipped with duvets, pillows, and carefully maintained bed linens so that everyone can enjoy a restful sleep during their stay.
The swimming pool, spa and sauna
Is the pool indoors?
Yes. The Château de Larunque has an indoor swimming pool, so you can enjoy it whatever the weather. Whether it's sunny, raining, or cooler, the pool remains a favorite place to relax for both children and adults.
Is the swimming pool heated all year round?
Yes. The pool is heated year-round to ensure pleasant swimming conditions in all seasons. Its temperature is generally maintained between 28 and 29°C , an ideal compromise between swimming comfort and energy efficiency.
What are the dimensions and depth of the pool?
The pool measures 9.60 meters long by 3.40 meters wide , with a uniform depth of 1.50 meters.
A small ledge of approximately 2 m², with 10 cm of water, allows younger children to splash around under the supervision of their parents.
The pool is just as pleasant for playing with the family as it is for swimming a few laps or simply enjoying a relaxing moment in pleasantly heated water.
Are the spa and sauna private?
Yes. For the entire duration of your stay, the spa and sauna are exclusively reserved for your group, as are the swimming pool and other facilities of the castle.
The spa is heated to approximately 37°C , offering a moment of relaxation that is particularly appreciated after a day of sightseeing, hiking or sporting activities.
The sauna completes this wellness area, allowing you to alternate between dry heat and swimming in the indoor pool.
Are the swimming pool, spa and sauna accessible all year round?
The indoor pool and sauna are accessible throughout the year .
The spa is open from March to October . Located outdoors, it is intentionally closed during the winter months. It is rarely used when weather conditions are adverse, and closing it helps avoid unnecessary energy consumption, in line with our responsible tourism approach.
Is the swimming pool safe for children?
Yes. The swimming pool is located in a separate indoor area, the access to which is secured by three lockable French doors .
As with any private pool, young children must remain under the constant supervision of an adult.
How is the pool water treated?
The water is treated by a modern system combining oxidation and ionization.limiting the use of chlorine to exceptional cases.
This process provides more comfortable bathing water, with very little chlorine odor, better comfort for the skin and eyes, while greatly reducing the use of chemicals.
Is the swimming pool equipped with a counter-current swimming system?
Yes. The pool is equipped with a counter-current swimming jet , which allows you to both swim in place and enjoy a toning massage.
This equipment is appreciated by both athletes wishing to train and those simply looking for a moment of relaxation.
Should we bring towels for the pool?
Yes. Shower towels are provided for each occupant, but pool or beach towels remain the responsibility of the travelers.
We therefore advise you to bring one per person in order to fully enjoy the indoor pool, the spa and the beaches of the Landes and Basque coast.

Is the tennis court private and is equipment provided?
Yes. The tennis court is reserved exclusively for guests of Château de Larunque during their stay.
All the necessary equipment is provided free of charge:
- tennis rackets and balls;
- badminton net, rackets and shuttlecocks;
- table, ping-pong rackets and balls;
- pétanque balls;
- Mölkky game;
- mini-football balls and goals.
Is Larunque Castle suitable for children?
Yes. The Château de Larunque is particularly popular with families. Children have many spaces to play and expend energy in complete safety: indoor swimming pool (under the supervision of their parents), mini-football, badminton, table tennis, bicycles , scooters and outdoor games.
The castle also offers games suitable for babies and young children. The shallow end of the swimming pool, approximately 10 cm deep, allows the youngest children to splash around under the constant supervision of an adult.
Can group activities be organised during the stay?
Yes. The Château de Larunque is particularly suitable for stays where you want to share group activities, whether with family, friends or as part of a seminar.
You can organize tennis , pétanque , badminton , ping-pong or Mölkky tournaments, as well as evenings around the many board games available.
To offer a variety of experiences, a partner can set up an escape game directly at the castle, with several scenarios to choose from. A paintball field is also located just 400 meters from the estate. We can put you in touch with our partners and assist you in organizing these activities.
These activities are particularly appreciated during family gatherings, birthdays, stag/hen parties, training courses and seminars.
Can we simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the estate?

The 3.5-hectare park , terraces, and lounges naturally invite you to slow down. Director's chairs, deck chairs , and a hammock are available for reading, napping, observing nature, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings.

Thanks to the variety of facilities available on site and the activities offered in the immediate vicinity, it is quite possible to spend several days at the castle without lacking activities, while alternating moments of conviviality and moments of relaxation.

We recommend the one in Ondres : It's the closest, well-equipped (restaurant, ice cream parlor, children's games, bike and surf rental), and the easiest to park in.

Where to shop during your stay?
Supermarkets, bakeries, markets, local producers and convenience stores are all within a few minutes of the castle. The two nearest towns are Urt (10 minutes by car) and Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx (15 minutes by car).
The village of Urt offers most of the everyday shops.

Life at the Castle
Is the kitchen fully equipped?
Yes. The kitchen at Château de Larunque is designed to easily prepare meals for a group of 15 people. It has a 5-burner induction cooktop, 2 ovens, 2 refrigerators (one with a freezer), a dishwasher, a microwave, a bean-to-cup espresso machine, a kettle, a toaster, and all the necessary equipment to comfortably cook for a group of 15 people.
The crockery, utensils and serving dishes are provided to comfortably accommodate all occupants.
Can we eat meals both inside and outside?
Yes. The castle has a large dining room where meals can be shared in a convivial atmosphere.
As soon as the weather permits, meals can also be taken outside on the covered terrace which has a griddle and a beer tap. This is often an opportunity to enjoy the park and the tranquility of the estate.
The covered terrace allows you to eat meals sheltered from the sun or a downpour.
Does the castle have an internet connection?
Yes. The Château de Larunque is connected to fibre and is equipped with a Wi-Fi internet connection accessible in the residence.
Whether it's to prepare for a visit, check your emails, watch a movie or telework occasionally, you benefit from a connection adapted to everyday uses.
Can an electric vehicle be recharged?
Yes. The Château de Larunque provides a free 3 kW reinforced socket, usable during off-peak hours.
For compatible vehicles, an 11 kW charging station is also available. Charging is then charged at a flat rate corresponding to the cost price of electricity.

What time can we arrive and what time must we leave the Castle?
Arrivals are possible from 5pm and departures must be before 10am .
These times allow us to carefully prepare the castle between stays in order to offer each group the best possible reception conditions.
Is it possible to arrive earlier or leave later than the usual times?
Yes, subject to the availability of the castle before your arrival or after your departure (which requires us to modify our cleaning schedule), we offer two options:
- Early arrival : access to the castle from 11am .
- Extended stay : possibility to enjoy the castle until 5pm on the day of departure.
These options are offered at a price of €160 each .

How do arrival and departure take place?
We will personally welcome you upon your arrival to give you the keys, show you around the castle and introduce you to its main facilities.
We also explain how they work and give you the main useful information so that your stay takes place in the best possible conditions.
At the end of your stay, we will be there for check-out. We will take the time to discuss your experience at Château de Larunque with you. Our goal is to make your stay an exceptional experience; your comments and suggestions are invaluable to us in continuing to improve the welcome and services we offer.
Is end-of-stay cleaning included?
Yes . End-of-stay cleaning is included in the price of your rental.
We simply ask that you return the castle in a normal state of use, put away any items that have been moved, empty the bins, leave the kitchen clean and do not remake the beds that have been used, leaving the sheets in place.
Upon your arrival, you will find our "Art of Departure" sheet, which summarizes a few steps to help us prepare the castle for the next guests.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets can be accommodated at Château de Larunque, subject to prior discussion with the owners.
